About the event
TAKE MY HAND
The intimacy of the camera combined with Flamenco art in all its intensity, can be a powerful way of transmitting emotions, energies, and visual stories.
TAKE MY HAND is Flamenco Borealis’ critically acclaimed debut in the genre of dance films. Released in July of 2021, this screen work leads the spectator through a journey of introspection, loneliness, despair, and a deep need to connect with others. The film offers a glimpse of the emotional struggles of the human soul in times where many traditional social structures have been swept away, and where people from all over the world had to live prolonged periods of social distancing. The film evolves eventually into a state of restoration, joy, and beauty offering a message of hope and love. Neither a narrative nor a documentary, this short art film uses movement, sound, images, places, light, colors, and symbolism to offer a romantic and poetic tale.
Supported by SK Arts, the film was premiered at the Victoria Flamenco Festival and is an official selection at the Toronto International Women Film Festival, the Madrid Indie Film Festival, the LA Independent Women Film Awards and the Cannes International Cinema Festival.
Original Concept, Artistic Direction, Composition & Arrangement, Sound Engineering & Music Interpretation by Daniel Regnier.
Original Concept, Artistic Direction, Choreography, Dance and Costume Design by Lina Kazan.
Vocals by Celedonio Garrido.
Film Production by Versa Films.
Run time: 23 minutes
